Academic or General
There are 2 versions of the test. You can take IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training depending on the organization you are applying to and your plans for the future. Whatever your reason for taking IELTS, make the most of your language skills.
IELTS ACADEMIC
universities
If you’re looking to study at a university, at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, or join a professional association where English is a prerequisite.
IELTS general training
immigration
If you’re looking to apply to an immigration program such as Express Entry in order to establish yourself in Canada.
With IELTS, you can go anywhere in Canada. Every organisation sets its own entry requirements. In some cases both versions of IELTS may be accepted.
If you are still in doubt as to which version to take, you should contact the organisations directly in order to check their requirements.

If you are in BC, I highly recommend this establishment for the completion of your IELTS test. Blimey! Even the cleaner will extinguish your fears with her soothing words.

My experience was amazing
Staff was polite
Chris - a wonderful person, kept everything in order, delivered instructions in intelligible form, making everyone feel less stressed! Overall, I had a great experience! Thank you everyone
– Everything was very organized and friendly
– The speaking inspector was very nice, and it helped me to deal with stress
– No questions were left after instructions, and the equipment was adequate. I feared the headphones might be noisy, but the sound was clear
– results were ready in 1 business day
It would be great to see where my mistakes were though, but I don't know if IELTS generally allows it.
